What is the PADI Open Water Diver course?

- The PADI Open Water Diver Course is the world's most popular scuba diving course and it is valid for life.

- Upon completion of the PADI Open Water Diver course you can dive anywhere in the world with a certified buddy!

- You will dive to a maximum depth of 18 metres.

- Takes 4 days to complete.

- 5 confined water dives help you to learn the scuba skills you require.

- 4 open water dives allows you to put those skills in to practice.

Before you learn to dive, check you are medically fit with this printable PADI Medical Statement. If you answer 'yes' to any of the questions then please print this medical statement for your Doctor to approve you for diving, and bring it with you to the dive center.

Scuba diving for the whole family

For those that can't commit 4 days to the full PADI Open Water Diver course there is the option to complete the PADI Scuba Diver course in just 3 days. Essentially you are doing just over half of the Open Water course. This will qualify you to dive anywhere in the world but you will be limited in depth and will always need a qualified dive guide/instructor with you.

- Scuba Diver course is 3 days. Open Water Diver course is 4 days.

- Scuba Diver course has a maximum depth limit of 12 metres. Open Water course has a maximum depth limit of 18 metres.

- Scuba Diver course qualifies you to dive only with a qualified dive master or instructor. Open Water course qualifies you to dive with any certified dive buddy.

- 3 confined water dives to learn and master the basic scuba skills
- 2 open water dives to put those skills into practice
- Takes 3 days to complete
- Can be upgraded to the full PADI Open Water Diver certification at any time

Save time by completing the theory part of your diving course before you arrive! Both theory and confined water sessions can be completed with your local PADI Dive Center. You can find and contact your local PADI Dive Center online using the PADI Dive Shop locator.

You can complete the theory and the pool training with your local PADI Dive Center and then complete your 4 open water dives in the warm waters of the Maldives!

PADI Referral Details
- You must bring your referral paperwork and signed training record with you to complete your course in the Maldives
- 4 open water dives can be completed over 2 days to finish your PADI Open Water diver certification.

• 2 theory classes to expand your knowledge of diving
• 2 confined water sessions to practice new diving skills (in a pool or in a clear salt-water lagoon)
• 2 open water dives to enjoy the new skills you have learned, going deeper to maximum depth of 18m
