Getting to Thulhagiri

North Male Atoll remains an essential diving destination to be discovered in Maldives - famous for dive sites such as Manta Point and its many Thilas (the Dhivehi name given to underwater pinnacle reefs). It is also one of the most explored Maldivian Atolls since it is so close to the Maldives International airport, Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in Male.

You reach Thulhagiri Island in a short 25 minute speedboat ride directly from the airport. You are not long off the plane before you are embarking across the clear blue waters of Maldives towards the comfortable, unspoiled tropical island.

Thulhagiri water villa

Thulhagiri Island Resort is one of the more affordable resorts in Maldives resort with a very natural Maldivian feel, incredible white sandy beaches and a crystal clear shallow lagoon that invites you to bathe, snorkel and dive.

Thulhagiri island has 55 detached deluxe beach rooms and 34 water villas in its own bamboo interior design, similar to that of its sister resort in Ari Atoll, Angaga Island Resort and Spa.

All bungalows are air-conditioned, with satellite TV, mini fridge and IDD telephone. Wifi is available in the rooms and free of charge in public areas. New in 2016 - Thulhagiri Island now has a fresh water infinity pool on the island in case the shallow natural lagoon is not enough for you!

Beach Bungalows

55 detached beach rooms come with thatched roof and are beautifully furnished in light bamboo. The rooms are well appointed with modern conveniences and have the following facilities:
• adjustable air conditioning
• bathroom with freshwater shower, wash basin, bathroom amenities, bath robe, fresh towels and hair dryer
• fridge
• TV (inc. movie channel)
• veranda with direct access to the beach

Water Bungalows

34 water bungalows are of an octagonal shape and are built on stilts above the water of the lagoon. They are furnished with a four-post bed and have a huge terrace with direct access to the ocean. All water bungalows have the following facilities:
• private sun deck

• fridge
• TV (incl. movie channel)
• tea/coffee making facilities
• built directly over the water
• glass bottom coffee table feature in the room
• sun loungers
• direct access to the lagoon

Thulhagiri Island offers plenty of things to do besides relaxing on a beach all day; although we understand that is all you might want to do! Sports and recreational activities on Thulhagiri include scuba diving, snorkeling, volleyball, table tennis, various water sports and much more. You can choose your own pace with the array of facilities and activities on the island.

Scuba Diving
Scuba diving is a must-do activity when visiting the Maldives. The corals and fish life are stunning and some of the best in the world. This is an opportunity of a life-time whether you already dive or have never dived before. SUB AQUA DiveCenter on Thulhagiri island have PADI courses from complete beginner to more experienced. Whether you prefer relaxed house reef diving or boat trips, or want to make a night dive or complete a PADI course, you will find all is possible on Thulhagiri.

Snorkeling
Snorkeling in Maldives is another way to discover the underwater world. You do not have to go into deep water to find small reef sharks, turtle and many more small coral-nursery fish; it is all there in the shallow lagoon on the edge of the reef too. SUB AQUA DiveCenter on Thulhagiri can assist you with a snorkel lesson if you prefer to experience snorkeling with a guide to begin with but you can also explore the reef unassisted at any time. You have your own real-life aquarium just a few steps from your room!

Water Sports
Water sports in Maldives are popular because of the favourable conditions to be found in the lagoons surrounding the islands. On Thulhagiri Island you can do windsurfing, water ski, catamaran sailing, kite surfing, wake boarding and much more to satisfy your inner thrill-seeker.

Thulhagiri resort arrange excursions of discovery. You can visit a local island, take a sunrise tour to see if you can spot dolphins at this beautiful time of day, have a visit to the Maldivian capital of Male or enjoy a private island picnic to get that real desert-island feel.
